Keep agents in check

Tests

Nothing reaches production unproven. A full suite pressure-tests every agent and every step of your workflow, including adversarial cases it generates itself.

Custom tests

Design a scenario and assert how the agent should respond and which tools it should call. The two are graded independently, so an agent can pass on what it said and still fail on what it actually did.

Regression tests

A real production failure becomes a test case the moment it's resolved. Every release after that is checked against it, so the test suite grows from agent failures instead of being written from scratch.

Adversarial tests

An AI mock user with a persona and a goal tries to break your agent with prompt injection, topic derailing, instruction override, data extraction in a sandboxed two-agent session that's audited against your northstars once it ends.

End-to-end workflow tests

A test runs the whole workflow, not a single turn: the conversation, the tool calls it triggers, the branches it takes and the outcome written back, with every check graded separately so the exact point of deviation is visible.

FAQs

The test exercises the full workflow rather than a single exchange: the conversation itself, the tools the agent invokes during it, the branches the workflow takes as a result, and the outcome written back at the end. Each check is graded on its own, so a run that reaches the right conclusion through the wrong sequence still surfaces as a failure.

You can choose to have Forward Deployed Engineers build the first eval suites as part of the deployment for you, alongside northstars and audit configuration, so an agent goes live with real coverage rather than a starting point. From there your team owns all of it: adding scenarios, changing thresholds, running suites, with no dependency on HappyRobot to make a change.

You set the floor. A suite run reports a pass rate across every check it contains, and a version can't be promoted to production until it clears the threshold configured for that workflow. Higher-risk workflows can carry a stricter floor than lower-risk ones, rather than one platform-wide number applying to everything.

The specific check that failed, not just a red run: which northstar or assertion was violated, whether the deviation was in the response or the tool call, and the point in the workflow where it happened. Because the failure is traced to a node, a fix can be made and re-run against the same case rather than reproduced by hand.

Regression tests do, by design: a resolved production failure is locked in as a case, so the test is the real session that went wrong. Those cases live inside your own isolated instance under the same retention rules as the rest of your data. Custom and adversarial tests are synthetic: a scenario you write, or an attacker persona the system generates.
